Real Madrid are set to step up their efforts to sign Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, according to Gianluca DiMarzio
Madrid are keen to bring in a big name to counter Barcelona after the Blaugrana added Philipe Coutinho to their ranks. The move made him the highest transfer fee in the club’s history and the third highest fee paid for a player in the world behind PSG duo Neymar and Mbappe (who is to complete his deal at the end of the season).
Madrid are known to be big spenders in the transfer market with the purchase of Luis Figo whose fee was once the highest also Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, James Rodriguez and Bale were all bought for tantamount fees.
Liverpool will be reluctant to part way with another big star after Coutinho’s departure to Barcelona which might put their push for top four into a jeopardy.
Egypt international Salah has been a revelation for the Reds since moving to Anfield in the summer, scoring 23 goals in all competitions in the opening months of the campaign which also won him the BBC African footballer and CAF African best player of the year.
It will be a big blow to Liverpool season if Mo Salah is allowed to move, then it remains to be seen if Liverpool will ever be able to compete with the very top teams in the world by selling their stars.
