The largest digital transportation firm in the world, UBER is planning on different strategies to carry on to the coming years.
UBER’s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi announced in an event that the company is planning a possible move into car rentals, shared rides and public transportation. His statement was actually centered around Washington DC and if it works out there, it will certainly hit other streets.
One of the top car rental companies around at the moment is “Alamo Rent a Car” and “Budget”. UBER’s plan is to make it very affordable and its partnership with cities and government will probably make it easier to fight of it’s existing competitors if it doesn’t choose to buy one of them anytime soon.
Shared ride purpose is to reduce the number of automobiles on the street thereby also reducing traffic.
The CEO stated that huge investment has and will still go into this idea of stopping some individuals from buying their own cars and rather share a ride with a stranger to your office. The problem he pointed out with this idea is the social acceptance between the individuals sharing the same ride and communication would be: will they just stay there and not chat, or will they talk about work or rather get into an argument?
Getting them to feel comfortable in your own right which is the reason why some of us get a Car in the first instance.
UBER is still working day-in-day-out to catch up and do better than companies like Tesla and the likes. He said that the success of autonomous riding will lead to the success the above-stated plans for the future.
